Have You Heard About Heartland Town Square?

The most recent studies of Long Island and Suffolk County, in particular, have shown a mass exodus of our young people (18-34) and a dissatisfaction of our empty nesters due to a lack of rental housing, nightlife and walkable communities.

But that is about to change!

Veteran developer Jerry Wolkoff and his sons Adam and David are proposing to build the Island’s premier “smart growth” community on the grounds of the former Pilgrim State Hospital. Over the next 25-30 years in a three phased development program, Heartland Town Square will create 9,000 apartments and include a one million square foot life-style center, three million square feet of Class A office space and indoor and outdoor civic spaces. Most importantly, it will create 25,000 jobs!

Heartland Town Square will be intergenerational, appealing to the young singles and the empty nesters who are desperately needed to stay on Long Island to keep its economy stable and relevant.

The development of Heartland Town Square where the Long Island Expressway meets the Sagtikos Parkway will result in Long Island’s premier “smart growth” community where people can live, work and play. The 25-30 year build out in three phases will include a multitude of rental and for sale housing choices;   scores of shopping, dining and entertainment choices; three million square feet of Class A office space; and indoor and outdoor civic spaces. Fusing these venues in a planned development will create a vibrant and diverse atmosphere that will appeal to people of all ages.
